Welcome! So this is your first time round visiting the website huh? I’m sure there are questions swarming through your head right now. You might be wondering who those wacky and colourful anthro-cartoon characters are? What are they? Who create them? Why are those characters portrayed in such adventurous settings? Is this a web-comic? Do wombats and emus look like that in real life?

These are Australian natives that were used for my characters. I find these creatures unique.
Or perhaps you’ve been a long time fan of the series but you are curious to know what has changed over the past few years?
Well either way you’ve come to the right place, this is where you’ll get up to speed on what all the fuss is about in the universe that is GRAND HUNTER.
GRAND HUNTER is an original comic concept written and illustrated by Elson ‘Darkspeeds’ Wong. It was originally called ‘The Grand ASHWORTH Fortune’ but Elson decided to scrap that name in favour of a title that is visually appealing and easier to remember.

What a contrast between the old and new logos! I got feedback that people couldn't read the word 'Ashworth' from the first logo!
The ideas from TGAF were also scrapped because things got too complicated back then and Elson didn’t have a clear mind on the direction of the series. The only thing he was most certain of was the fact that he wanted an emu girl and a wombat boy to be prominent figures of the whole series. He had this strange desire to create a story that will have readers remember them for their shared experiences as fortune hunters venturing into a vast and epic universe that is filled with danger and thrill.
Elson had loads of ideas for his anthro-cartoon based comic series but it’s just a matter of piecing together the pieces of the puzzle to make it a whole and to make it a success. It wasn’t easy mind you, and by Gloreya was it a challenge!
After some serious thinking he spent an extra year to change things around, tweak the contents here and there and give the series a fresh new start. He started this by changing the logo design and eventually improving his cartoon drawing style to make it his own.
What you see now is GRAND HUNTER and it is pretty much a major revamp of the old concept which now brings the series forward with new and exciting adventures that are clear to follow and stories that can grow and flourish in the coming future.

Home sweet home, Australia's full of contrast and natural wonder!
Elson is currently residing in Perth, Western Australia (and has been living there for over 20 years! He says that Australia’s a beautiful country and the people are nice there too!). He is a self-taught comic artist who has been drawing sequential art and illustrations since his teens in the year 2000 and has been doing it for a hobby until one day he decided to treat his comics a little more seriously.

This is pretty much what it's like for a typical drawing session. Don't forget to stretch, warm-up your hands and move your legs every once in a while! It really helps!
Fast forward to 2010 and here you’ll get a basic idea of what the new premise of GRAND HUNTER officially is since the humble beginnings of his original concepts more than five years ago.
