Boy! What a difference it is with colour! Sorry I was hanging out at my bro’s place to play Mortal Kombat and hell was it an epic reboot of the series.

Looks like Zac has a plan and it’ll most probably involve a little bit of havoc since it’s going to require a direct approach to get to that speedboat – it’s their fastest ticket to Cape Locke, they have to find Ruby and retrieve the Auroris Stone!

Nevertheless apologies for the lateness but it is better late then never! Enjoy and thanks again to Evan for the outstanding colouring work! I’ve added in the effects for Panels 3 & 5 at the very last minute – cuz I got to go to work in about 5 minutes! XD

Hey everyone! Sorry but looks like there will be a delay in the colouring process!

Evan Stanley will be doing her best to get the page coloured as soon as possible! In the meantime let’s check out what it looks like in sketch form. Once I get the file from Evan I will update it into this post.

Also! I will be posting a new journal on my new deviantART account and a new piece of artwork that is different from my usual forte of anthro cartoon styled drawings!

Ooo…! Here comes a new challenger! *SHOT* XXD

I love how Evan brought this page to life with a splash of her signature colouring style. I just pass on the inks and base colours to Evan and viola – we all get a polished and spankin’ cool page! This time I didn’t have to throw in anything extra like SFX’s or touch up on the shading and colour tones, this page looked great without any further adjustments. Thanks once again to Evan and Joe for their contributions to this page. *thumbs up*

Nevertheless what is new about this page? Well I’ve mentioned earlier that there will be a third member to this party and there he is! Zac – the ‘Lightning Charge‘, whatever that means…

He’s leader of this terrorist group – not a big group but they seem to mean serious business if you take away Betty’s crazy and impatient attitude (as Ana says: ‘what a bitch’!).

You may notice the metal plate on Zac’s right side of his face, this is a hint as to what these three really are in terms of their make up. Robots in disguise perhaps? Who knows. But the one thing they share in common is that they are working for someone, someone very powerful and ambitious.

Anyways introducing the second member of this team who is currently on board the passenger ferry, ‘Little John’, in a hijacking operation. Looks like T.R.A.P. (the marine squad) have been summoned to stop the hijackers dead on their tracks.

Mackarov seems to be that quiet type who speaks few words. He’s also one of those in your team who can pull off some serious damage when asked to. Don’t mess with the Silent Sentinel!

Joe and Evan did a harmonious effort in getting the inks and colours done for this page. Well done to those two.

Also just an advance warning, there may be a delay in getting the next couple of pages, we’ll see how Evan goes with the colouring (I only just got Joe’s inks yesterday and I’ve touched up by adding in the character ‘flats’). Fingers crossed it’ll make it in time for next Sunday. In fact I just hope that Betty won’t get impatient about it, I really don’t want to face her menacing whip lash for punishment! *WA-TASH! YEOWCH! X_X;; XXD*

Here comes the next page! And introducing some new characters into the mix of this chapter that is ‘Reunion’.

Not all a present on this page, only one out of three and it’s Betty who is probably one of the most impatient Glorians on the planet! As mentioned previously they are from an organisation that was already present in the first book. Soon enough you’ll learn that they can be pretty lethal international terrorists (as the T.R.A.P. would describe) in their own right.

With regards to the production process I’ve inked the page this time because I felt like it. The colour is all done by Evan Stanley this time round and she did a brilliant job capturing the twilight late afternoon/evening feel for the setting of this page – keep in mind that the events are still synonymous with what’s happening in Cape Locke as we speak – (i.e. the events of Fei vs Corny, Ash & Ruby looking for their comrades in town).

Also in other news I’ve been having a long think about where GRAND HUNTER is headed, and surprisingly I’m thinking of restarting the series and making one-off stories rather than having this saga panned out in chapters. I don’t know… There’s just a lot of things going in mind about the comic, and it’s not set in stone yet.

Anyways for the time being enjoy what’s being laid out for ya. More from yours truly coming next week.

Oh and do me a favour – if you’re ever interested about ‘The Solar System’ be sure to get yourself a copy of ‘The Wonders of the Solar System‘ presented by Professor Brian Cox. You’d be amazed at what you’ll find out in that program – genius.

No wonder these guys were ++A rank under the COFT’s World Quest Regime, you seriously don’t want to mess with them if you ever approach them!

Despite the fact the Roadkill Gang members have a fierce reputation they do show morals. The previous page did show a responsible and moralistic side to Ruko (the leader of the bandit group) where he paid for some of the damages caused from all the ruckus that happened between fortune hunters.

Nevertheless for those who don’t remember COFT is short for The Council of Fortune Hunting – an organisation that is funded by the World Government and supported by T.R.A.P. (see Chapter 2: ‘Ruby The Unluckiest Fortune Hunter’ for more information).

This page took quite a long time to produce given the amount of detail that’s involved in both the line-art and colouring work. I’ve tweaked some of Jenise’s original colours and added some effects and additional elements for good measure (like the seaside/island background on panel one, the heavy dust in the bar, the radio transmission speech bubble from Jessabelle, the SFX etc…)

The production of this page (and the more recent coloured pages) continue to be a combined effort of myself, Joe Bowen (our new inker), and Jenise (aka Blazetbw) (colourist extraordinaire).

On the next couple of pages (probably more depending on how busy Jenise is this fortnight), we’ll be treated with another offering of colours from the talented Evan Stanley (writer and artist to Ghosts of the Future series).

Do look forward to the next few pages since we’ll also introduce some brand new characters that will rock the world of GRAND HUNTER! Psst! Here’s a hint – there are from an organisation where the T.R.A.P. has encountered in the past. I wonder who there are…?

Seems like there was quite a brawl in the bar, Ruko will explain why the place is almost in shambles. Also, I like how I drew the bartender (he’s also the owner too)

This week we’re falling behind on coloured pages. I’ll still have to see how Jenise goes with the next page – she’s working on it but not to worry it should be complete by the end of the week.

What a combination of emotions and feelings this week has been!

First off – horror, sadness, and hope. The natural disasters that hit Australia, New Zealand and Japan – my utmost sympathy goes towards the loss of loved ones during all of the disasters.

It’s incredible to have witnessed the devastation that has gone through to each country during these past couple of months. The media has done an amazing job sharing the coverage of the disaster zones. It will be something, we as human beings, will never forget.

What’s even more incredible is the amazing human spirit that’s been portrayed by people, the government and countries from all over the world to give aid to the most effected areas of each natural disaster. It just shows how much hope there is in the world and how ordinary people can become heroes in times of great need.

Secondly it’s been a rather busy and inspirational week. How to describe this feeling and what I’ve gone through to you guys? Well work at the casino has always been fantastic. I’m happy to have shared my customer service to keep patrons happy and well served on a regular basis, and it’s been fun to work with like-minded, professional and hard working colleagues who also share a good time with me during shift.

It’s been inspiration this week in a sense that I’ve been exploring my options of what I’ll be doing when I make a comeback to the online art community. I’ve got loads of ideas just waiting to be shared with all of my friends and fans (both old and new) when I make my comeback – where and when at this stage? I won’t say.

Thirdly it’s been a very exciting week because I’m in the middle of getting tickets book for my holiday trip to North America and Canada! I’ll be away for around five weeks and it’s been four long years since I’ve made my first visit to those countries. I just can’t wait to show you my itinerary when I got it all confirmed for July and August.

Phew! That was quite a mouthful! Now it’s back to the comic and news about the site!

Just quickly, Jason’s server went down temporarily due to a technical overload of data use on the site to Concept Mobius. Because of this the Technoguild, Concept Mobius, GRAND HUNTER and Darkspeedssites were temporarily suspended. However this problem has been ameliorate by Jason and now everything is back into gear (with the exception of Concept Mobius – that will be fixed later). Nice one bro, you always find a solution to any I.T. problem.

Regarding the comic page, well I’ve mentioned about a gang making an official appearance in the GRAND HUNTER web-comic and… Here they are!! It is none other than the ‘Roadkill Gang‘ (including Ruko, King, Jack & Joker) , a concept that has been crafted almost four years ago in concept sketches. Man don’t they look bad-ass? They definitely steal that title of bad-ass for sure! Let’s see what these guys are up to as you are introduced to another page next week! Till then have an excellent week!! *thumbs up*

“Behold! My DEMON HAMMER!!“…. O_O;;

Well, well, it looks like Corny’s latest mischief is turning innocent bystanders like yourself and I into shapes! It’s a strange thing to come up with for the Demon of Mischief but maybe this kind of magic is useful in a practical sense in future adventures? Like maybe turning his peers into certain shapes like a ball to get through tight spaces or even evade danger?

Who knows what use this can turn out to be when I’m presented with a tight situation for Ruby and her friends.

Nevertheless I really like how the colours blends beautifully together on this page – from warm to cool, much like how it’s expressing the heat of the battle turning into something mysterious and cold (‘cold’ as in eerie or frightening). It just shows how colours can affect mood on a page.
I give credit to Jenise for bringing life into this page with her colouring (as usual!). Thanks for reading and hope Corny won’t be in your nightmares!
